Hey guys, this is Cuddles the Brisbane carpet python.
we named her cuddles because, well she squeezes tight.
We've had cuddles for about 8 years now and is one of the oldest animals here at the rescue. Cuddles was taken as an unwanted pet and has lived happily with us since. Most pet snakes or reptiles in general, don't get to spend much time outside of their enclosures but here we make sure they regularly get out of their tanks and into the sun. Cuddles can often be found hanging on the washing line or on the decking like in this video catching some rays.
She will eat a large rat every 3 weeks but can go much longer without food. When we first got her she refused to eat for over 8 months and we thought she might die but then one day she just took the rat and has been good ever since. Cuddles has quite the temper on her and can be quite aggressive at times, shortly after I stopped filming she attempted to strike me but more of a warning than anything. I've found most of the snakes are very calm for most of the time but if they are about to shed or about to/just finished eating they will be far more defensive and likely to strike.
Unfortunately she eats slow and I didnt want to put up a 20 minute video where nothing really happens but here she is having a meal and hopefully I can get some good footage of more animals soon :)
