Sawgrass Lakes is part of the SWIFTMUD Flood Management system in Florida. A large lake connected to drainage canals.
When we have heavy rains such as during a hurricane, the excess water can flow in to this area. There is also a canal to nearby Tampa Bay for overflow.
This is home to many animals such as birds alligators, fish turtles and otters. I have even seen a bald eagle here.
This was taken from the second story of the overlook tower on the large lake. This is looking north about 8am.
