It has been a record breaking winter in terms of snowfall here in Ottawa. We set new highs in January with over 100 CM of total snowfall and this week we had the biggest snowfall of the season and one of the biggest in recent years. Over a 12 hour period there was over 30 CM of snowfall in our area as we had a full on blizzard Tuesday night. The storm was so bad that for the first time in my career, the schools were actually closed due to snow. We have lots of days where the buses are cancelled but it was unprecedented that schools would shut down.
It wasn’t the amount of snow that was the issue. We have had lots of winter storms with 30 CM of snow before. It was more the speed in which the snow fell. To get that much snow in a 12 hour span is quite a lot. Needless to say, we spent the day Wednesday digging ourselves out. I decided to take some clips of the aftermath and show you all just how much snow we have now. It is kind of cool walking into the house now since we have almost 5 ft walls lining the driveway and walkway.
I hope you all enjoy and stay warm out there.
