Hi Dtube Fam!
Like any other Dtuber today... I've spent some time pouring over the latest Post from Dtube trying to figure out what all the changes mean for the platform, for me as a content creator, for other content creators, for curators etc.
One of the biggest changes we are seeing is in their approach to curation rewards.
Just to clarify... in this video I am only talking about the change in where the 25% delegation fee is going... and am not addressing any other sections of the post.
Changing Up The Delegation Reward Structure
One of the biggest holdups people have with using Dtube, is the 25% delegation reward that they collect. I thought it was super interesting that talked about this so much in their post. It sounds like they have really gone back and forth on how to approach this.
One of the most beautiful parts of the Steem ecosystem... is that this is all an experiment. Instead of dropping the delegation reward like other applications on the Steem blockchain have done (most notably Dlive), they have decided to take a different approach.
That 25% will now be going directly back to the curators. This may not seem like it impacts content creators, because they are still losing 25% of the profits - but I think this is actually really positive for everyone involved.
For many large investors, they are looking for the best return on investment. With these new changes, they can now receive a much higher curation reward... simply for upvoting Dtube videos. This has the potential to attract higher quality votes for Dtube videos.
This Change Has Allowed me to Give Back to my Supporters... Without Changing Anything I'm Doing
One of the coolest parts of this change, is that the people who are supporting my posts - are now getting an extra reward, simply because I happen to be posting on Dtube. Many of these supporters would likely support my content no matter what application I post on... but the fact that I happen to be posting on Dtube is now positively impacting them.
I actually went to each of their wallets to see the affect and was really excited to see the extra rewards they are now earning from .
Let's See How this All Shakes Out!
This video is just some of the potential benefits I see to the new curation rewards system - but it will be interesting to see how everything ends up landing. Like said in the post, this is all an experiment - which means nothing is set in stone. One thing I appreciate about the Dtube team is that they are willing to change and adapt with the needs of the community.
I definitely see the potential benefits of this change and am looking forward to seeing the rest of the .8 update.
If you guys have any questions - let me know and I will do my best to help!
xo, Lea
