What up my Steemians, welcome to the @D00k13 Digest, when recording with a mobile device such as myself using an iPhone I often find the audio to be fairly quiet. Since my videos are pretty well just “Talking Head” videos my focus is the clarity of my voice so I have found a way to boost the audio with iMovie before using my clips in the Quik editor by GoPro.
This system works for me to get good audio levels and also helps simplify the trimming process as iMovie has a much finer tool than what is a availble within Quik. On average a 300-400% boost will match the audio levels of my GoPro and when entered into Quik using the “boost” audio setting my voice will remain predominant while still being able to blend with the background music using the “mix” audio setting.
When using my GoPro for recording like this video I almost never need worry about audio levels, actually had I not tried to use clips from both devices in one creation I may never have really noticed how quiet my iPhone really is! Since the footage from my GoPro has pretty decent levels right off the bat all I need do is trim using iMovie and fine tune the project with Quik, takes all of about 15 minutes when the audio is in check.
