Was listening to this tune this morning as it was recommended to me. All I can say is the Reggae Revival is in full swing. For those of you who don't know Yardcore, he is the creator of one the most special global reggae event series called Dubwise Jamaica which I think formed from the same camp as an event called Kingston Dub club. Dub wise Jamaica is like the international version that tours the world.
I remember going to a Kingston Dub Club event in the hills of Kingston. Pitch black, cars parked along the road and you had to walk down a slope to get to the venue. Nothing but positive reggae music all night. So many nationalities. It is an entirely different vibe from the Dancehall events. It is the new movement of Reggae.
Oh the song by Yardcore..... it’s straight fire, it is on a new era Reggae Dub Riddim that really captivates and the lyrics he spits are simple, easy to understand and pack a powerful message. I can see this track being used in many films. His character is well displayed in the video as a calm but serious Rasta warrior. I have no doubt this song is going to be a hit and Yardcore will not only have DJ and promoter under his belt but now Reggae artiste. The Reggae Rival is HERE.**
Here is a recent Dub Club Video, I highly recommend this event if you pass through Kingston.
As the creator of the popular Reggae Aroma mixtape series, founder of the global party Dubwise Jamaica, and the first person to play leading lights Chronixx and Protoje over the Jamaican airwaves, YAADCORE is one of the most prominent and influential DJs working in reggae today. Having cemented his place as a pivotal tastemaker, he is now making his mark as a producer and vocalist with his first original recordings. His debut solo track, “Ready Now,” is out now via
Delicious Vinyl Island and 12 Yaad Records.
Riddim Salut — that’s Salut, with no ‘E’ — is the name of both his new mixtape series, and a new traveling party launching in 2019.
