Silvia is an extraordinary girl from Milan. She has severe disabilities, but a strong power of will. Today is particularly hard, as her family challenges her in different ways.

Silvia is a 14-year-old girl who lives in Milan. A severe brain hemorrhage a few hours from birth it is at the origin of his visual, motor and cognitive difficulties. The team of doctors who followed her painted an extremely pessimistic scenario, surrendering to the idea that Silvia would be remained blind or would not have survived the numerous interventions.
Now Silvia enjoys an independence that was unsuspicious until a few years ago and every year she makes extraordinary progress, which the doctors themselves are struggling to believe. For Silvia's grandfather, Joseph, the answer can only be in faith. Every day, twice a day, he goes to the church of Sant'Eustorgio to dedicate a prayer to his granddaughter.
With my work, I would like to show the daily struggle of Silvia. In the morning she prepares to go out, combs her hair, has breakfast and brushes her teeth. She says hello to the cat and goes down the stairs. Each of these actions is her personal success and the result of a long exercise but also of the support of the parents, brothers, educators and all those who were close to her.

Silvia è una ragazza di 14 anni che vive a Milano. Una grave emorragia cerebrale a poche ore dalla nascita è all’origine delle sue difficoltà visive, motorie e cognitive. Tutto il team di medici che la seguì dipinse uno scenario estremamente pessimista, arrendendosi all’idea che Silvia sarebbe rimasta cieca oppure non sarebbe sopravvissuta ai numerosi interventi.
Ora Silvia gode di un’indipendenza che era insospettabile fino a qualche anno fa ed ogni anno compie progressi straordinari, cui gli stessi medici stentano a credere. Per il nonno di Silvia, Giuseppe, la risposta non può che essere nella fede. Ogni giorno, per due volte al giorno, si reca alla chiesa di Sant’Eustorgio per dedicare una preghiera alla sua nipotina.
Con il mio lavoro, vorrei raccontare una giornata qualsiasi di Silvia. Al mattino si prepara per uscire, si pettina, fa colazione e si lava i denti. Saluta il gatto e scende le scale. Ognuna di queste azioni è un suo successo personale e il risultato di un lungo esercizio ma anche del supporto dei genitori, dei fratelli, delle educatrici e di tutti quelli che le sono stati accanto.
