Welcome to my Hebrew reading & language series.
Genesis 9:1-4
Today is the day that the Everlasting gives animals for man to eat. By implication, man only ate plants, fruit and seeds up until after the flood. Animals were not afraid of man until the ark landed. He spoke it and it was.
This verse always makes me curious about the dietary instructions in the Torah. This passage tells us that every living thing was for food as long as there is no blood in the meat. Later, certain animals were declared detestable! The instructions given at the time of Mosheh (Moses) were for all Hebrews and all who chose to live among them, so it is not just a Jewish thing.
I state no opinion on the topic. I am just observing and comparing what is written in the Tanakh. Let's talk about it.
