I spent 3 weeks solid doing intermittent fasting (at least 16 hours of fasting per day) and when I did eat, the meals were ketogenic (i.e. high fat, moderate protein and very low carbohydrate.)
This video discusses things I learned during that 3 week period, including several tips for getting through the adaptation phase. One thing I forgot to mention was coffee! I would sometimes drink coffee or tea with no sugar (sometimes with a splash of cream, which is technically not fasting anymore, but is a trivial indulgence when only having one coffee per day.) Caffeine helps suppress the appetite and also slightly increases fat burning.
