Winter can sneak up on us before we know it. That almost happened to me this year. The temps around here dropped really fast. Which means I needed to get my sprinkler system blown out ASAP! Here is a little DIY video of how to blow them out with a tow behind air compressor.
Not all sprinkler systems are alike so before you attempt to do this yourself, make sure you KNOW how your system works. Most newer homes are designed with a separate valve and threaded fitting, a service port some would call it. Make sure you turn your sprinkler main water supply valve off and never run the compressor without having one of your station valves opened to release the air. This could end up costing you big time. You could send sprinkler parts flying!!!
Save yourself some money, learn your sprinkler system and blow your system out yourself. I have 3 stations, and ran air to east station for maybe 2-3 minutes if that.
