Watch Solar Eclipse Shadows Time-Lapse Near Seattle video on DTube
MY FIRST TIME-LAPSE VIDEO!
One frame every 30 seconds with my Lumix GH4 camera.
I just wish I would've researched how to shoot a time-lapse BEFORE the solar eclipse began. Yeah, I got a late start on the footage. Watch until the end to see how bright the day actually was.
Our location is between Bothell and Mill Creek about 20 miles north of Seattle.
I considered setting up my tripod in a more high profile location in town, but cooler heads prevailed (my wife's specifically) so I set up on our porch. Staying home to create cereal box viewing memories with the family easily eclipsed all other options. (See what I did there?) Up and down the street, neighbors started sprouting up on lawn chairs so we went out to join 'em.
The beautiful thing about space is that its intrigue is undeniable. Everyone connects with it on some level. The solar eclipse allowed us an opportunity to put down our cell phones and tablets, set aside our daily struggles and societal challenges, and come together for a brief part of the day to share a common interest in what lies beyond.
It truly was a beautiful event.
