La canción Hotel California, es la mejor canción del Grupo de Rock americano The Eagles, la letra del tema trata de un hombre que llega al misterioso Hotel California, un lugar “que podría ser el cielo o el infierno”, según sus autores, “del lado oscuro del sueño americano y el exceso en Estados Unidos”, especialmente el referido al uso de drogas duras.

Hay rumores que indican que el título “Hotel California” aludía al culto al diablo, pues supuestamente aludía a la dirección donde el famoso satanista Anton Szandor La Vey, quien se autoproclamó como el Papa negro o Papa oscuro, fundó en abril de 1966 la Iglesia de satán (California Avenue, en San Francisco). Estos mismos rumores aseguraban que en ese lugar los integrantes del grupo The Eagles habrían hecho un pacto demoníaco y, después de realizarlo, habrían escrito la famosa canción.

Las frases supuestamente satánicas de la letra de la canción se centran sobre todo en la frase:
