Steemit users and other blockchain enthusiasts were very excited when Dtube was launched. It's the first ever decentralized video uploading and sharing platform that is meant to be an alternative to YouTube.
The idea of decentralization is one that has been born out of people's disgust about the corruption in high places such as financial institutions, government agencies and giant corporations. The perpetual bailing out of banks has prompted the anonymous Satoshi Nakamoto to bring Bitcoin into existence.
For several months now, several YouTube channels have been demonetized and censored because of YouTube's regulation changes. If they determine that a creator's content is not politically correct (by their standards), they will not be paid even if they have millions of subscribers and views. YouTube has shut down several channels that don't conform to the subjects that they want people to talk about.
You can WATCH the video below about YouTube's demonitization tactics.
YouTube demonitization
Dtube was launched just a few days ago and it's still on beta. There is much to be done, stiill a lot more features to be added and developed but it's up and running. I did upload my first Dtube last night and my video is not playing. I learned that 1080 P is not yet available. I wanted to delete that video because it's useless but there was no delete function. There is no editing capabilities yet so make sure that when you upload a video, you've already done the editing using your own software.
Even though Dtube is not as efficient as YouTube yet, I would encourage everyone to use it and support its development. Here's a LINK where you can get more information about Dtube. Or you can check out DTUBE PLATFORM with all the videos that were uploaded on the site.
I hope you have found this helpful. Thank you for reading and thank you for your support!
