Hi everyone!
Hope you're all well!
So, I totally get that it's annoying to do something every day... but I can't recommend stretching every day enough. It doesn't cost you anything, it can be as quick or long as you like, it improves your health, your limbs, your blood flow, your muscles, your fascia and your tendons... and it's totally relaxing.
Pick a time during the day, and consistently use that time to stretch... once it becomes part of your routine, you'll be a trillion percent better off for it. Pick a trouble area (for me calves are the first thing I stretch) and hold it for 30 seconds. It shouldn't hurt, but it should feel uncomfortable at the start until you muscles start to lengthen. Just to reiterate, there should never be sharp pain when you stretch. Stop immediately in that case.
My partner and I end each day stretching. It's a good bonding experience (we both look hilarious) and we usually put on a quiz show so that we can shout out answers if our stretches don't let us look at the TV. It helps me wind down and get ready for bed... and I honestly sleep within seconds of putting down my book, and I think stretching plays a part in that.
If you're working out regularly, then stretching after your workout is great for lengthening the muscles that you worked out, and this should reduce the muscles hurting the next day... but even if you're not working out, stretch every day regardless. Your body and your mind will thank you.
Thanks for watching!
