Background:
I did a 10-day Vipassana meditation retreat in 2011 and found a center of peace within myself. However, college, grad school, and real world slowly took me away from the practice. I am giving myself some social accountability by committing myself to meditate 15min before going to bed and uploading the video (and some writing) everyday on social media. My goal is to do 15min before bed and 15min after waking up, and I am starting with 15min before bed for the first half of the year.
This is my day #4.
You can see something is around my belly. I don't know what to call it, but it gets really really warm or hot,
and it keeps my belly really really warm. One of the side effects of running is that you lose a lot of body fat.
Last time I checked, which is about 3 weeks ago, I had about 5% body fat. So I make use of these things to
keep myself warm during cold winter... :)
Anyway, last night meditation was great. I started really focused, but then, I got distracted with random thoughts.
Thoughts of old friends, drinking, and running around my old campus college. They were all very weird and mixed
thoughts; thoughts I cannot think of consciously. I sort of got distracted, then realized I was distracted.
I then refocused on my breathing and posture.
After meditation I read a bit, for like 10 seconds, then realized how much I wanted sleep over the week.
'Tomorrow is Saturday, so I will get to sleep in!' I thought, and went to bed.
I hope you try meditatoin. It is very simple. Just sit up right, focus on your breathing coming into your body,
and going out into the air. You can find more information on Vipassana meditatino that I practice at:
Keep calm and meditate on!
Namaste,
Sung
