DTube is the first decentralised video hosting site to ACTUALLY happen, thanks to the amazing work of
Check it out here: https://dtube.video
We have been waiting a long time now for SteemQ to deliver, but alas they did not.
To quote the words of heimindanger himself,
"the SteemQ project announcement made almost five thousand dollars in rewards, but never got released and ended up being rebranded - It's still not functional after more than a year, and even the current alpha uses a back-end server for everything and is therefore still centralized. I am sure I wasn't the only person disappointed by SteemQ."
As a filmmaker
I was indeed disappointed with the lack of progress towards a decentralised equivalent to YouTube.
But now we finally have it!!!!
I posted my first film there a few hours ago: https://dtube.video/v/samstonehill/9sfwlk7d
...and whilst I am still getting to grips with a few things (or potential glitches with the voting percentage function?) it is really easy to use and understand.
Thank you for your hard work and I look forward to uploading there on a daily basis.
The One Question...
If the 25% fee is paying for the storage of this content, a 1hour film which makes $1 payout is giving so much less than a 30sec film which makes $1000 payout.
Yet the 1 hour film is clearly using more storage space.
Am I understanding this correctly?
I would appreciate it if anyone who understands this better than myself could clarify this point.
If this is the case...
Well, it would seem to me that a better system needs to be found.
