The highway is dead. Not a car in site. The plaza is lit up in the normal way, but there is fire in the skies.

Why are fireworks legal here? Because fires only start from the inside of a home. The buildings are all concrete and adobe. The fire department is only called once per year. I have never seen a fire in the 20 years I have been here, but I have seen exactly two buildings that were burned out on one floor. Hose it out, paint the walls, and fill it with new furnishings. Only tables, chairs and beds are damaged, but the house remains. There were no fires last night though the city did truly burn.
