As parents, do we encourage our children to lean into comfort and ease, or do we help them walk through the challenges they are facing in life?
As I walked out the door for work this morning, my youngest daughter said, "Snap shoes are easier." She had just seen me tie my shoes, and she was making sure I knew her stance on the mater.
Yes, snap-shoes (aka velcro shoes) are easier to put on, but it is important that she learn how to put on her stringed shoes and learn to tie them. I don't want to encourage my kiddos to only look for the comfortable and easy path.
Sometimes they need to be guided through something that seems challenging today so that they will be prepared for future challenges that they may have to face without me.
I want to hear from you.
- As a parent, do you tend to guide your child away from or towards obstacles and challenges?
- How do you feel when you watch your child struggle through a difficult situation?
See you around!
