Starting from 2020.1.1, as long as Asia Miles members earn or redeem Miles at least once every 18 months, the valid period of Miles in their account will be extended.
Keep it simple: starting next year, Asia Miles will be valid for 18 months.
Ways to make your account's mileage effectively change are:
Earn miles or redeem award tickets on any of Asia Miles' 26 airline partners;
Spend with Cathay Pacific or Asia Miles joint credit card, or convert partner credit card points to Asia Miles;
Redeem miles for travel rewards such as hotel accommodation, car rental services and travel experiences;
Use miles to redeem other rewards, such as concert tickets, digital technology products, and household items.
If you can't increase / decrease your account's mileage once a year and a half, then the probability is that it doesn't belong to those who need mileage?
Some people worry that this is not a sign of "depreciation", I think it is not necessarily related.
In many airlines, the mileage is mostly valid for 12/18/24 months rolling, or one step in place → permanent.
This move by Asia Miles is even more in line with international standards.
For us, it will be more flexible and convenient to use in the future, and no one will worry about expiry of mileage.
But I still have to say a word: no matter it is airline miles, hotel points, or credit card points, you must use them early.
In the long run, the trend must be depreciated, and currencies cannot stop it, let alone virtual points.
In addition, don't use the mileage too much, always think about maximizing the return. Many friends have more mileage, but they are not willing to use it. Remember: to be a human being, the most important thing is to be happy.
Asia Miles has many uses, such as changing hotels and concert tickets, etc., and may not be the best value for award tickets.
Last year, the editor used 2w Miles to redeem Andy Lau's Hong Kong concert tickets, which fulfilled his childhood dream (click here). In my mind, the value is better than changing any ticket!
Come, leave a message to tell me, what are your thoughts on the "change" in Asia Miles' validity period?
