One of the things that i see a lot on the steem blockchain from a variety of projects and dapps is this underlying need for better promotion and marketing. I do think people are doing their ‘bit’ in or outside of a community or group on different social media platforms and i think that’s great — i know that one frontend for instance, steemit is looking to maybe work together with ‘social media’ style agency to improve the outreach and awareness, I’ll be interested to see what they come up with.
I remember the days pre ‘appics’ from that team, i liked the youthful vibe and it was pretty much focused around movement, freedom and of course they could dance pretty damn good too — with refinement and some focus groups i think we could apply some real world storytelling to that as well, I’ve seen some great stuff from google in this regard, just check out any of their adsense empowering ads, we need a regular campaign going out.
We don’t need to ‘come together’ to do it either to be honest, i think that’s probably been the stumbling block — i mean do we have too? This is a decentralised blockchain and yet we are trying to apply centralised thinking to pulling this off, i don’t think we have to do that to be honest.
Which got me thinking about MIRA and CONDENSER again, I’ve seen some recent rumblings and sources of frontend that have the steem engine element baked in which makes them almost ready to roll frontends for those with tokanomic ideals, that’s awesome!
I’ve also heard on numerous occasions that we need to bring ‘business’ into steem to start building up the resource pool and ‘bump the price’ I’m not sure how well that would go when we have people constantly automated exploiting the fund but i do subscribe to the notion of little active, agile teams doing their own bit for the ‘chain — the perfect thing would be SMT + MIRA + CONDENSER right now for what I’m thinking.
Micro Steem Agencies
I’m not sure how it would work on steem but i know on upwork it works quite simply that you pay a $20 a month and from there you can build out your skilled team — from your web designer, motion animator, etc — you pool your resources together and work on a project with people you trust (and like) who all know what slice of the pie they are going to get because hours of work are given to each other on the agreed price for the work — simples!
And that’s the thing, keeping it simple. I don’t want or need to jump into a discord community (i don’t have the time to play position and the blah blah) i just want to do the work that’s required of me, bit like when i see jobs on steemtaskr (wanna list some stuff on there today!)
The Hyper Niche Community
I want a frontend (that we power from our own witness node) that’s dedicated to that agency, people work and play, blog and do business together, almost like a shared space but public not hidden away in a discord that does not see the light of day and only a few people are in the ‘know’ — for instance my interests are gaming, streaming, environment etc (probably about six or seven tags in total) — instead of just building a curation group/trail I’d build the frontend to actively have elements that attract people to it like a modern day blockchain connected portal, incentivised at every view, click or interaction.
I’ve been seeing a few ‘bounty’ sites pop up and while the application of what they want done is limited right now i could certainly see that expand with micro agencies — want to get a video together, simple briefing process, stream live on vimm with the team so the client can meet everyone and actively have people stream as they work on the product.
In closing
I’m quite excited to play with the MIRA enabled witness server element when that goes live for us ‘normals’ — if it’s reasonably priced to run each month then the money side is not the issue for me, it’s not about making/mining steem, it’s about paying my way and reinforcing the overall network — if i can visualise that the witness feeds my condenser frontend and I’m paying my way of running my interface i can experiment and learn as i go, it’s like having your own personal blockchain in a way and fits in with my dreams!
