Quick, go and build it!
I’m happy to give this one away for free I’m sure someone could get a grant and setup a business around it, heck I’m sure that you could have thousands of these centres dotted across the globe. If I had the resources I’d love to run one myself.
Inhaler plastics, medical plastics in general. We need to stop or slow down the insanity of these plastic moulded containers for pressured containers. We don’t need a new plastic sleeve every time I get a prescription, I just need the bottle with the contents of it, I already have my inhaler from before.
Just think of the amount of plastic that we could save to be made if we did this and how much smaller the packaging of the box might be in the process. I realise this might hit someones precious bottom line in the fact your not moulding these plastic things over and over but maybe I’ve got a solution for you that could help the planet and help you sustain your business also for many years to come.
It’s simple, follow these steps.
- open source your 3d rendering of the old style inhaler body (yep you heard me give that shit away for free)
- Switch your operation to recycled plastic — preciousplastic.com — can be your helping partner here
- Build a social strategy or campaign around the ‘custom’ of people making their own UNIQUE inhaler body from recycled material
- Stop printing these new ‘metered’ ones where you can’t take the cylinder out and swap it with existing ones.
I’m pretty sure the only reason you have put that in there is because you are making the excuse that they HAVE to come together so you secure your contract for printing out the body — that’s bullshit, I’m onto you! :)
I’m sick of throwing these plastic things into the trash knowing that the majority of them are not recycled and are probably sitting in a landfill somewhere getting sun rays on them and giving of nasty carcinogenic fumes into the world, kinda defeating the fucking purpose of me having the inhaler in the first place — do we not seen the insanity of this?
Look, I’m not trying to be a revolutionist here but this is stupid — let’s flip the script on it, make it from recycled plastic, make it cool, unique, make a fucking Pinterest board, heck even get local eco grants because you are recycling to offset your stupid business operating costs. .. whatever it takes!
Also, how awesome would it be to teach kids about recycling if they could step through and do this, precious plastic could help you do that, drop in centres onsite even for kids to have tours of how you recycled plastic pellets that are used to manufacture these wild and crazy designs instead of adding more plastic nightmare to the world?
If we want to optimise what we have left we need to start slowing or converting our behaviour to things and not accepting what we see as things that can’t be changed. Be the change, make the change, say something, put action forward to make those differences, if not for you, for your children.
Peace and Love
