I normally like to try and do things my own way, mainly because I think I'm smarter than everyone else.
Most of the time this doesn't work.
Most of the time, I end up frustrated that I'm not making progress as quickly as I expected. That's usually when I give in and start following the directions.
The problem is that making entertaining videos is something that people can spend a lifetime learning how to do and still not get it right. I don't have that kind of time.
So I figured I would just copy what Casey Neistat does and hope for the best. Granted, I'm using my iPhone and a $25 flexible tripod knockoff instead of a $6000 camera and a GorillaPod, but it's the story that matters. Right?
Maybe a little bit of both.
Anyway, obviously I can't copy homeboy exactly in a single day. But the idea is to maybe just copy one of his little tricks each day in each video. Today I messed around with continuing the conversation throughout the scenes. I don't know what it's called, but basically instead of sitting and talking to the camera and saying what I want to say in a single scene, I spread it out into multiple scenes.
All in all, this shit is pretty fun. I'm hopping on a plane to Israel in a few hours.
