This first elephant I came across in a neighborhood here in the SF Bay area. Most elephants are very empathetic and have amazing social bonding abilities. This particular type does have a sharp memory but lacks much of the social skills that its relatives are known for.
On my trip to India a couple of years ago I went to a town called Hampi which is about 7 hours inland from Goa. Bathing in the river I spotted this friendly giant. Elephants are very sacred in India.
