I just upgraded my desktop Ecency client, and going into this review I was pleasantly surprised. It's improved a lot!
It's starting to look very polished.
Darker than before
The night theme has gone almost black. I like it.
A question though... I see a section for controversial posts. What makes a post "controversial"? I didn't see many controversial subjects when I checked it. (Is it there for advertisement's sake, or for people to shun away from?)
The editor looks nice too.
It's now even got "syntax" highlighting for code!:
And the code even looks less blocky and gray than before. But there are some things I feel a "tad" bad about. One being the steering off from monospaced fonts, because now this becomes a problem:

For those on other front-ends wondering what I mean, here's how this looks like on Ecency:
The second, is the syntax highlighting seems to work for words only, and not so much for syntax itself, except for those italic comments. A real syntax highlighting is done by detecting syntax, not by detecting words. It looks like currently anything (comments, ascii art, poems) will still be mixed up as code.
See?
Which one do You think is better?
In conclusion, it looks great upfront, but the code view hasn't been done with real care (a real bug, not a feature), and I'm just a little bit disappointed for that.
Keep up the good work , but please fix the code view and syntax highlighting issues!
What on Earth happened to the word count?
The word count of posts just randomly disappears and appears all around Ecency. It most often happens when you submit an update to a post, but I've noticed it can also happen when reading other people's posts.
This concludes my quick review. I hope you enjoyed it
