So what do you guys do during extreme temperatures of 40+Celsius ?
A severe heat warning was issued and this time it was 100% correct as we are really sweating here. During my time years ago in the army the hot days made everyone happy as we were banned to our barracks and no exercises or marching took place.
Even now during the heat I still keep all 3 of us indoors.

I saw in the news just in that some parts in Australia has just equaled the maximum temperature record of 50,7Celsius.
I liked this beautiful tropical picture and decided to include it here.
There are always signs in the sky to understand our local weather conditions and if the high wind rips a solid cloud into streamers like this, then it means that we can prepare for a very hot day.
The clouds collapsed onto the mountains and the sun beat down on them mercilessly.
EXTREME HEAT WARNING ISSUED
The weather service said the “very hot conditions” is the result of a predominantly light northerly wind flow over the interior of the Western Cape.
“Temperatures reaching 40 degrees Celsius and above are likely to occur over the Cape Winelands, Central Karoo and Oudsthoorn municipalities,” said SAWS.

And finally, this is what a heat haze looks like. The heat in the mountains disintegrated the clouds and as you can see the heat produced a hazy look. Not good for man or beast to be near the mountain ovens.
So yes, what we do is we stay inside, except for me nipping out to take these kind of photos and we also drink plenty of water.
The nights are the worst as it is difficult to sleep in 28C temperatures and we cannot open the windows as an army of mosquitoes will enter the room and that is never good news.
Hypothermia is a big danger during these conditions and so one has to drink as much water as one can per day. What I cannot understand is that the beaches are open and I bet that there are many people on them trying to cool off in the ocean. A big danger as the sun's heat is above normal and sunstroke is not a vey pleasant condition.
So, as per my intro question, what do you do to keep cool during times like this?
