Most plants of ecological, agricultural, livestock, forestry and medicinal importance are susceptible to colonization by these soil fungi of the Phylum Glomeromycota, forming the symbiotic arbuscular mycorrhizal association, including species of the genus Capsicum.
▶ In this regard, it should be noted that, although there are interesting studies that demonstrate the benefits of the arbuscular mycorrhizal association in plants of the genus Capsicum, including studies using as host species of C. chinense, there is no report in which its effect on Pepón sweet bell pepper plants has been evaluated.

The cultivation of sweet bell pepper (Capsicum chinense Jacq.), of the Solanaceae family, is of worldwide importance. In many tropical countries, due to its exquisite flavor, it is a typical ingredient of the national gastronomy, which is why it is considered essential in the preparation of traditional dishes.
Its importance as a strategic crop increases in tropical countries, since it is the fourth Venezuelan product with a controlled denomination of origin.
Hence, different regions of our country are involved in the cultivation and marketing of some varieties of sweet bell pepper, among which stands out for its certain predilection, the sweet bell pepper variety Pepón, whose fruit is globular, green with shades of purple when immature and changes to red, purple or yellow when ripe.
This crop has high nutritional requirements; in particular, the Pepón variety is very vulnerable to pest attack, which can increase production costs, reducing profitability, in addition to the negative impact that these inputs have on the deterioration of environmental health.
