My country is just a poor country, we are just surviving because of the money inflow from the remittances of overseas workers from our country. My father worked abroad for ten years until he decided to go home because of old age. So he contributed a bit as well to the economy of this country.
In short we just have a short line to grab until we can no longer hold it unlike in some countries where they do have deep pockets. The USA for example can just print dollars and give it to its citizens while in my country we have no oil, not much resource to export and even a patch of dirty is being claimed by the bully nation China.
Our country can just go to international courts and such and war is not an option because one missile from China and we are surely a toast with no butter already. China cannot just totally bully my country because we are an ally to the US but the property of the Philippines is still being grabbed under our noses and we could not do anything about it anymore.
Now that the money of the government given to the people (and some pockets of corrupt officials) are nearly gone or a goner already and not much revenue is going in to the coffers there is now a budget deficit.
But the government cannot just restore the normal movements of the people because if they do the transmission of the CoViD would surely multiply and will get out of hand. Then the hospitals will get overwhelmed. It will be like the plague of the sixteenth or 17th century and again affecting the economy.
So now the government will find a way to mitigate the situation because it just cannot go on like this, we cannot go into lockdown forever lest the people will just starve and the government will not be able to function well because no money will go to get things going.
That is why they are enforcing everyone who travels should wear a mask and a face shield because at least it will offer some protection than not using those preventive measures. Then gradually businesses should operate but with radical changes like half capacity of restaurants in receiving patrons and then more deliveries then dine-in.
The same with groceries, where if one leaves the grocery then the guard would one let in so that the grocery will not get overcrowded as to not to defeat the purpose of social distancing.
Those are just some of the ways plus more on using the Internet like for learning in the case of school children to collage students. Buy and sell online so that we just minimize trans-infection of the dreaded virus to our society while trying to roll the wheels of the economy.
