I mean really; what is the difference between what we call corruption – and normal monetary business deals and contracts? We call it corruption if someone is payed to choose one thing over another. Yet isnt that akin to a service?
Lets say I pay you to say that; “anarchy is the best societal solution as of today that we know of, so we should all become anarchists!” Thats me paying you to perform an action, an exchange. What is the difference between that and some company paying for the campaign of a politician in exchange for that politician signing some papers if they get elected? Its that company paying for that politician to perform an action, an exchange. Yet that we term corruption.
Dont get me wrong, if that signed paper is a officially enforced law saying citizens no longer have free speech, that is wrong and immoral. But is it then that surprising that things like that happens? Is it that hard to imagine that it and similar deals does happen? IF the individual have an monetary or power gain from that deal, then why would that not be attempted by someone that aims to get more power and control in order to reduce they're personal chaos.
Is it then any wonder why this system is corrupt? Came to this realization when reading a article on a corruption case against a telecommunication company that payed a dictator in a corrupt country to let them be the main mobile service provider in that country. And I thought; “thats simply paying someone to perform an action, just like many other monetary agreements, not really that surprising” Even thought its corruption because it results in a monopoly, its still just that, a service payed for.
In other words, corruption is a part of the system. We can ofc outlaw it with laws, unless, corruption legalize it first. That is the main issue here, who gets into the legal system first. So the question then is this: should we have a centralized legal system of human dictated laws in the first place? Might it be better to have some moral standard of natural law instead? That in a sense asks the question of: is this in line with nature and freedom of everyone?
