Something that is commonly found on several mountains in Indonesia when climbing is the Edelweiss flower. This flower with the Latin name Anaphalis javanica grows a lot in the mountains of Indonesia. Edelweiss flowers are so beautiful, that it invites the desire of many climbers to pick them and take them home. However, picking Edelweiss flowers is an act that is prohibited in climbing activities that are not familiar with conservation.
There are several reasons why Edelweiss flowers are prohibited from picking. One of them is because of its existence in a conservation area. "By law, everything, both animals and plants in the conservation area, is protected by law," said Head of the Edelweiss Farmer's Group Hulun Hyang Teguh Wibowo.
The prohibition on picking Edelweiss flowers is stated in Law Number 5 of 1990 Article 33 paragraphs 1 and 2 concerning Conservation of Ecosystem Biological Resources.
In addition, there is a Regulation of the Minister of Environment and Forestry of the Republic of Indonesia Number P.20/Menlhk/Setjen/Kum.1/6/2018 concerning Protected Types of Plants and Animals.
