On This Day, Pakistan's most popular, revered, respected, beloved and honored philanthropist/social worker, the iconic and legendary Dr. Abdul Sattar Edhi passed away. A man who dedicated 7 decades of his life servicing humanity not only in Pakistan, but internationally.
When asked why he also helped non muslims he replied "Because my ambulance is more muslim than you"
He started the edhi foundation with just 5000 pkr investment and a free medical dispensary that he managed through his own savings. throughout his live he served humanity without discriminating them on the basis of their cast, color or religion! Although he ran the biggest ambulance service in the world, He lived an extremely simple life. After the renal failure last year, he was offered medical treatment abroad, which he declined and chose to be treated in a government hospital in Pakistan!

As a part of his last wishes, he wanted his organs to be donated aswell, but only his corneas were donated due to poor health. His last words were “take care of the poor of my country". The world will not see another man like him!
