Today being the 19th March, 2019 marked the beginning of clinical practice for both Nurses and Laboratory studies students of my school. For the first year students and the second years, it is a little new for them but for the final year students like myself, it is something regular and familiar to us. So we thought it wise to still give them a brief talk on what to expect in the field and what is expected of them.
This was all done during orientation in school before we left for the clinical placements but we thought if it came from us, their fellow students, they will receive it more with no restraints and feel at ease to ask anything they didn't understand. After the brief orientation, they sure had some questions which we tackled before the General Supervisor of the hospital called us up.
I forgot to mention that we were going to carry out the practice at the Regional Hospital Bamenda, the largest medical their clinical skills while for the final year, it is one to help us gather data for our research projects.
It will cover a period of one month and I will be working un the infectious disease unit as I am working on a research project related to that area. I hope I am able to get all the information that I will need for my project. It began smoothly today and I had a great day even though I came home really exhausted. That is clinical life for you and it is always stressful and very tiring. The output is always great at the end because everyday, you leave a smile on the faces of your client amd that is what truly matters.
Tomorrow is another day and I am looking forward to it too as it marks the second day of this internship.
