King Edward II

Born in North Wales, Edward II wasn't his father's typical son. The fourth born, he wasn't expected, nor honed to rule a country. Growing up, he preferred horse riding, his hunting dogs, and associating with the lower class workers over the royals, courts, and tournaments.
Known as a man of the people, this reputation cause his noble allegiances to despise him. Nothing fueled that hatred more than his devotion to Piers Gaveston. After the Barons executed Gaveston in 1312, Edward was wrought with war. Struggling to maintain his crown, and soon to stave off the Scottish Rebellion.
Having suffered defeat to the Scots at the Battle of Bannockburn, Edward needed to regain the Morale of his people. The Barons persuaded Edward to hold a tournament of champions. To show he was loyal, strong, and yet a humble king, he decided to enter this tourney as one of the working class.
