Poverty inc is a documentary where the flaws in modern global aid and industry development are put in the spotlight which focuses on the failed attempts to aid the poor financially and mentally due to the poor living conditions and the under development of society. The movie starts off by explaining the distribution of food aid to the world and how transportation is taken part and the benefits that the United States receives from the distribution of this aid. Then they lay out the problem with the aid distribution and how it partakes through the corrupt governments they work with. This is put out on the table as a waste because of the control the government receives when the basic resources that the poor need in these countries to survive progressively making the poverty situation worse. With the multiple other highlights of how foregin aid is corrupt the solution to reverse the ongoing damage in these foregin countries is by trade partnership which would support local businesses and entrepreneurs so they can become self sufficient independently the film explains how there is already a semi version of such all of these companies and influential individuals but what is not understood is that there is more damage being done then good despite the good intentions they have. With all of the charity and free donations given to these poverty countries the small number of businesses that are ran in these areas are matched up against an unbeatable competition that distributes somewhat free products. One of the examples of this situation was in Rwanda and is shared by the ceo of hope international Peter Greer he explains how he had met a man who decided to start his own egg business which he had become successful doing and then his business was ruined after a church had donated a surplus of eggs. The question I asked myself throughout this movie is what are the entrepreneurial aspects of this film? I then realized that this was more of a film that explained what can destroy an entrepreneur but also benefit another one. I focused less on the overall base of the movie and looked into a different factor and that was competition. No matter what competition can take place no matter how different the industry is for example the entrepreneurs that are benefiting by donating and supplying these countries in poverty and using their donation as a sales tactic to attract more people thinking they are helping these places in poverty. The entrepreneurs that receive the basic task such as selling eggs to a community are the ones losing in the competition due to the competition having more resources and a better society standing.
