Summarily, here are the Sunnah practices (to be done) on the day of ‘Eid Al-Fitr:
Wake earlier and say your Adhkar
Brush your teeth with Miswak (or toothbrush) and perform Salah Al-Fajr
Have a bath (i.e. Ghusl)
Be well dressed in the manner of Islam and in your best clothes (doesn’t necessarily have to be new). Note: Women should fear Allah and dress not to kill.
Use Perfume (for men only)
Eat (especially dates in odd number) before going for ‘Eid prayer. This is an indication that Ramadan is completed.
Walk to the place of prayer (if it is within walking distance)
Loudly Say Takbeerat (individually) whilst going
Use different routes to and from the place of prayer
‘Eid prayer is from the time of Duha (prayer) till Salah Adh-Dhuhr is close by. Thence, it should be a time moderate enough to accommodate the giving of Zakatul Fitr.
Prayer should be performed at an open ground (unless otherwise) without any Adhan or Iqamah and should starts immediately the Imam arrives.
It is forbidden to pray Nafil (voluntary prayer) before or after the‘Eid prayer
The Khutbah (sermon) is to be delivered by the Imam after the prayer and should attentively listen to it.
To shake hands, hug and greet one another on happy occasions is Mubah (liked).
I wish you a euphoric ‘Eid celebration. Taqabala Llaahu minni wa minkum. I beseech Allah to preserve us upon goodness. (Aameen)
