I don't know if this one counts as an adventure, since I mostly just went there to stuff my face with tasty treats. But upon finding out there was a sizable food cart pod so nearby, I dropped what I was doing and got on my bike.
There was no parking whatsoever for cars, which made me feel vindicated in taking my bike. I've seen people park their motorcycles by the bikes though so I ought to be able to do the same when I get my electric motorcycle.
Besides the dizzying variety of food, there's also a "beer porch" covered by a tent so you can still grab a pint when it's raining. And to be fair, this is Oregon. It's only rarely not raining. Today was cloudy but dry, what passes for a good day in this state. To think, it's almost May.
The food was astonishingly good. Competition is fierce, so only the best will last any length of time, and there's a high rate of turnover. Many of the carts listed on the website for this pod aren't there anymore. Some went out of business but others 'graduated' to brick and mortar restaurants.
The cart which serves the beer porch is, in fact, a modified school bus. I thought that was a neat bit of repurposing. It brings to mind Ken Kesey's magical road trip in 1964. Probably I'm gonna hunt down a copy of that movie and watch it now.
They have healthier options than what I ordered. Since I took these photos I've been back once, and got an order of roast cauliflower with tahini sauce that I thought was pretty good, if underspiced. All in all, I'm pleased to have discovered this and will probably be back more times than my doctor would recommend.
Stay Cozy!
