Today I had to come home early to get my posts done for today. Apparently we are being hit with electricity load shedding again this week. Yesterday wasn't so bad as we were out from 4.30 pm to 8.30 pm last night.I don't mind it when it is short bursts, but not everyday please.
There is no reason for this as the weather is not cold and a pleasant 25 degrees most days. I honestly don't see where the pressure on the grid is coming from, with little information available and just not knowing.
The Electricity board has produced a timetable for this weeks events, but they haven't stuck to it so it is a lottery again. Durban was hit today from 12 Midday to 10 pm tonight which is a bit much really. We are set to go off sometime today so hence the time pressure on my posts.
Here is a load shedding shot of a calendar. Green is ok, yellow has a risk attached to it and red is you are screwed. I see February and March are more red than anything else so not great news apparently.
I have looked at the solar option and that is a must do. The price is not that bad and this kind of action is going to bite the electricity department in the backside. More and more businesses and houses are going to move off the grid and they will be like beacons. Last night i could see one or two houses on the neighboring hillside that had power still and I am sure if one was to have a look in 5 years it will be the total opposite.
