After a while of contemplation, I finally decided to get back to Twitter. I have asked some advice here and here. Most friends I know told me twitter is a cesspool and I should have never go back. From my former experience, it's easy to get carried away with all the negativity that exist within the platform. At one point, the negative experience outweigh the positive. So, I decided to pull off from the interaction there as I was also going on through something in life.
A few months after leaving, I felt huge relief. However there's also something I missed especially the indie makers, techstartups, and just people trying to make their product widely available and recognized. That kind of scene and crowd were major in my development towards learning tech skills. The community is tight-knit and they are supportive to each other. You don't have to be a programmer, you can be a marketer, anything really. And they welcome you with open arms when you needed help.
I can't deny the fact that twitter is often associated with political activism and politics. It is something I am passionate about but I learned from my former interaction, toning it down will be the best choice.
As much as I despise centralized media & proprietary products, I can't deny that they are still important. They are the doors for people to explore alternatives in our society.
After going back just last night, I realized that I really miss the startup scene and indie scene. People building in public, crowdfunding investment, and that camaraderie between those makers and doers.
Back in the day, I was really shy sharing my hive posts. That was because I was not confident about what I was doing. After seeing so many hivers there, I feel inspired that they are confident of their work. I think it's admirable to have that kind of confidence. Another reason that I was not interested in sharing my hive posts were because my university friends were there too. I don't know why but I am not comfortable sharing my personal journey and my interest with them.
Being back to Twitter is a mark that I am enthusiastic about social interaction again. I think that's quite an improvement after some stormy days. Don't know how it will go from here but it's pretty exciting knowing that I'll build something soon in the future.
