Hello!
I have always had a thing for chess.
Recently I was thinking "Why is chess so fun for me?".
I honestly do not know for sure, but lets take a look at the background to look for possible reasons.
In my younger days I lived with my mom close to my grandparents. My grandfather has always liked to play chess, so he taught me the basics and played with me. I can not remember if I ever won, but if I did I am sure it was on purpose. This was when I was 5 years old.
From that memory I can recall that I did want to learn, but it didnt help at all until I was of school age and by the age of 12 I had learnt what was right and wrong, with a rating of 750-800 at then time.
After that I played regularily with my father which is significantly better than me. I did not have a lot of contact with my father growing up.
I have learnt a lot from both of these events. Both made me want to compete and get better.
Which of these reasons are the most likely reason chess is important for me?
Tell me in the comments and lets discuss it.
