What is this project about?

The SKYROAD.ME weekly build contest started in the year 2011 and is going on since then. Together with our community, we are voting for topics that have been suggested by the community and then building the most voted one every Sunday.

Quality videos

We are making sure that the builds of our community are shown in their full glory with time lapse videos of every participant in 4k@60fps with the best Shaders available. For participants, this is a great way to show others how great they can build without doing the work on time lapse videos themselves. Steem integration

Additional, we are the first Minecraft project that makes use of the Steem blockchain to show off the results of our contests every week since 2018 and broadcasting all results of the contests, including all buildings in compressed schematic formats to the Steem blockchain using STEEM.CRAFT. This allows every participant to load their building through Steem on to their own server without even the need to contact with us.

Rating process

Prizes

Participants can not only join our contests for fun, but also for token rewards. Every participant gets at least 0.5 SP for joining our contest and building something related to the given topic. The better you can build, the more you will earn at these contests. There is no fee related in joining our contests.

Hosting

Our servers are hosted in Frankfurt am Main, Germany with a 7-layer DDoS protection with fast storage on Samsung SSD Pro Series SSDs, redundant power supply (A + B + C + D feed), Intel Xeon E7 CPU and 2 x 10 Gbit/s uplink to be fast and reliable even for players outside of Europe. Daily backups to two different locations also protect us against any local worst-case scenario that could cause loss of any data.

How to join

To join our weekly build contest, you need a Minecraft Account. Once you got one, you can start Minecraft and join our Minecraft server though join.skyroad.me. There, you can get to the event area, where the build contest is starting every Sunday at 18:00 o'clock UTC+1.

Financing

At the moment, the project is being financed by @immanuel94. Video creations, payment for hosting and creation of systems are paid/made by him. Moderators and team members that are rating do not get a reward for doing so at the moment. It is hard work to differentiate good builds from not so good ones, checking for plagiarism is even a big concern here, since people could build off of from builds from the internet.

This project is here to support the creation of new videos, hosting and our hard working, reliable moderators and team members that make sure that our contests will be a thing in the future.
