Hey y'all, I'm really pleased and incredibly proud, to announce that I'm officially engaged - It feels good too, seriously good, to be part of something bigger than myself and something I can put my heart and soul into. Oh yeah, it feels good!
Below you can see me within a moment of engagement, at Tintagel, Cornwall, United Kingdom - It was a beautiful day...But that's not the engagement I'm talking about in this post.

Most of you will be familiar with steem-champion, non-pie-eating, curation-league-metric-keeping I assume - If you're not, you should be. He's not only a top sort, but works tirelessly on steem to drive...Yep, you guessed it...Engagement!
Recently I was added to the curation and engagement leagues which is a set of metrics tracked and collated by the non-pie-eating man himself. He selects criteria which relates directly to engagement and curation and builds an ordered list of users based on their score. It's pretty cool. The link above will take you to this weeks table.
I don't tend to write about steem much, simply because it doesn't ding my bell, and there's more-qualified people out there who write about it enough to account for the fact I don't. However, I felt inclined to do so on this occasion. You see, like , I believe that engagement is a vital element here, just as much as investment, content, SMT's, and all the other elements that make up what we do here, and the eventual longevity and viability of it.
I'm not a steem-yoda like my brother , (yes
, he really is my brother, in real life. Same mum and dad and all), but I know enough about business to know that for one to be successful many elements must come together.
I was pleased to see myself get amongst it at the pointy end of the spreadsheet in my first week which indicates I have a reasonable level of engagement on steem. Below you can see that pointy end with the figures based on the various metrics, also below. There's hundreds in the league though, all engaging!
- Posts (P)
- Comments - number of (C)
- Number of people spoken to (PS)
- Comments - replies to replies - depth > 2 (C R)
- Comments - length in characters (C L)
- Witness votes (W) (for those proxying witness votes, your total is always 30)
- Up-votes to others (V)
- Up-votes to different authors (U V)
- Self-votes - No minus score but no bonus STEEM (S V)
I'm a content-creator here, one who posts daily and mostly with over 700+ words plus I curate for , have a real-world job, family and typical real-world commitments. I sleep sometimes too...It all adds up and burns a great deal of life's most valuable commodity: Time.
I know it's difficult to find the time to add a little extra steem-engagement into the day, although I see many people burning hours scrolling through random rubbish that Zuckerberg forces down their throats through Facebook and Instagram...They even justify it. Well, those on steem could should also justify an extra 10-15 minutes a day to do some engagement I think. Curate a little, engage a little and add some content too...It's a balance I guess.
I urge people not on the list for the curation and engagement leagues to head over to the post linked here and comment below it that you would like to be included. There's the chance to win a little steem, but more importantly the opportunity to help drive longevity to steem and much-needed stability which will drive prices over time. It's worth it right?
So, if you happened to read the headline of this post and look at the picture without reading the body you might decide to comment about my engagement to the blonde in the picture. However if you read the post you'll probably head over to the engagement leagues post and drop your name there to be added. Come on, just do it.
