As in the case of bunkers in Wilkocin, this is a place that I have visited several times in my life. I've been there less often, because frankly speaking, it doesn't make sense from my perspective. There aren't many attractions apart from this big tree, my town is surrounded by forests, so I have nowhere to walk, and the biggest attraction of this place for several years is not as accessible as it was about 20 years ago (I am writing about because I do not remember when exactly I was there last time before visiting with my girlfriend). This is because a bunch of idiots set the oak on fire several times. Most of them survived the historic tree, indeed! It was even able to produce fresh leaves in the spring, but after an arson in November 2014, the oak eventually gave up and is unlikely to come back to life. Or at least everything points to it, because it hasn't grown a leaf for 2 years. Earlier attacks had hurt them badly, but there was always a piece of life left in Chrobry. At least that's what our guide told us when we went on a trip in primary school. Previously, I was there twice on such a family trip - we (me, my sister, mom and dad) and a friendly family. Fathers drank beer, talked about various things, and mothers, like mums, gossiped and talked about their children. We, on the other hand, i.e. me, my sister, Piotrek, Patryk and Ola (children from that marriage) played army, hide and seek and other typical children's games. In the past, you could run there normally, go inside, touch a tree, today it is impossible. The area is fenced off and you can only watch it. It is a pity that a tree that has survived so many wars, journeys of various troops, etc. must have died because of an idiot or a group of idiots. I never understood what drives such morons. I know that people have different, often stupid ideas, but to devastate such important places? It's a pity for words.
And here is an appeal to you - please pay attention to such people. Sure, not in all cases it can be done, because sometimes, for example, it is a bunch of shady types (then it's better not to risk, as it is said in Poland - "Do not touch shit because it stinks"), but if you would give them advice or harmless, it is worth telling them not to destroy it. Maybe they won't do it, maybe they'll get a light in their brain that they are doing something wrong and not doing it. Let us respect our local monuments for our descendants.
