Ingredients
A packet of Maria cookies
170 ml. milk + 200 ml. (to wet the cookies)
250 gr. of chocolate to melt
50 gr. of butter or margarine
1 lemon
1 cinnamon stick
Grated coconut
Preparing the Maria Cookie Cake for Christmas
Bring the milk to a boil, with the lemon rind and cinnamon for flavor.
When it is hot, add the chocolate and lower the heat. Stir so that the ingredients are integrated and the mixture thickens.
Add the butter or margarine cut into small squares, and mix well until completely melted. If it is too thick, add a little more milk.
Put the rest of the milk on a plate. Wet the cookies one by one until they soften, and place them in the baking dish forming a layer of cookies.
Pour some of the chocolate over the cookie layer. Then repeat the process, wet the cookies and place a new layer over the chocolate, then chocolate, cookies again and so on.
Set aside part of the chocolate to cover the cake when it is finished... Decorate with grated coconut, jelly beans or colored lacquers.
