Hello everyone, receive a warm greeting from Maracaibo capital of the Zulia State of Venezuela, land of grace as the name Christopher Columbus when he arrived on our shores, was so much his admiration that he manifested having reached the Earthly Paradise.
My name is Ramon Ignacio Rojas and this coming August 23 with the favor of God will be 63 years since my mother gave birth to me, my profession is TSU in Chemical Processes and I am currently retired from the Venezuelan petrochemical industry (PEQUIVEN), but I also work in the oil industry (PDVSA) in the Paraguana Refining Complex, the largest in the world located in Falcon State, but also working in the company Cerveceria Modelo manufacturer of the foamy Polar beer.
So in more than 35 years of work I had the opportunity to know many industrial processes, my work was mostly in Quality Control Laboratories of raw materials and finished products, at the end of my professional career I worked in Plant Operations both at the Field as at the level of Process Panels in the Control Room of the company Polipropilenos de Venezuela (PROPILVEN).
Thank God I had the fortune to work in elite companies in terms of technologies and of which the population in general knows little, since they are very specialized jobs, so it occurs to me that I could relate some experiences and describe in non technical terms some of the principles and processes with which I was able to work, for example, you knew that aviation fuel (jet fuel) before going to market is measured its freezing temperature using liquid nitrogen and that temperature must be lower than -50 degrees centigrade , this is to be sure that said fuel will not solidify in the tanks of the plane when it is at high altitudes, that would be a total disaster for all the occupants of that plane, you knew that the ethyl alcohol that we ingest when tasting a Very cold beer, is produced as waste of the metabolism of a unicellular fungus called Saccharomyces cerevisiae, also known as yeast of beer.
Good, my dear friends I hope you have liked the idea of speaking in non technical words about some of the very complex processes that infuse tremendously in our daily life and of which we are almost not aware, if it has been like that, I thank you let me know in a short comment, I think later talk about several issues such as how oil is refined, how lubricants are made, how to convert natural gas from petroleum to plastic, which is the hops and so that add to the beer and others that will emerge later, I send everyone a big hug.
