Yesterday was the third trip for Feld Motorsports "Monster Jam" to Nashville's Nissan Stadium. As with the two previous visits, my family and I were in attendance on the front row.
Monster Jam has actually been coming to Nashville for many years, but their performances had been down at the Arena where the Nashville Predators play. Small Arena shows are where the up and coming drivers get experience. But the Stadium Shows are where it is at.
We originally weren't going to let my son get in to Monster Trucks. But when the Cars short film collection "Tall Tales" came out when my son was two and he saw Mater transformed into a monster truck, the kid was hooked, so now we have been making our way to shows for 7 years.
At the end of the day, Monster Jam is a pretty jam packed day. You start with a Pit Party, where you can get up close with the trucks and meet all of the drivers. Then the show itself is about 3 hours. So all told you can spend 6-7 hours at the Stadium. It's hot and muggy, but the kid was having a ton of fun.
Last night's show was the debut performance of a brand new truck called Brodozer. Built by the Diesel Brothers who have a show on the Discovery Channel. It is the first Monster Jam truck to be Diesel powered. My son taped the entire run of Brodozer for the Freestyle, and "Heavy D" who drives the truck actually did really well for himself, holding the lead in the Freestyle competition until the very end.
I will upload the freestyle later for anyone interested in that.
