PROBLEM DESCRIPTION
Description 1
Overflowing bins lead to unsanitary conditions, environmental hazards, and increased operational expenses.
Description 2
Traditional approaches lack real-time monitoring and optimization capabilities, resulting in suboptimal waste collection routes.
Description 3
There's a critical need for innovative solutions leveraging modern technology to address these challenges and promote sustainability.
Description 4
Our project aims to develop a Smart Dustbin System (SDS) using deep learning and IoT technologies to monitor waste levels and optimize collection routes.
Description 5
Overflowing trash cans make cities dirty and cost more money to clean up.
SOLUTIONS
The FEATURES which we implemented on our platform include:
1.Smart dustbin
Equipped with ultrasonic, gas, temperature, and humidity sensors for waste level monitoring, gas detection, and environmental measurements, with LED status indicator.
2.Vehicle routing plan
It utilizes an efficient system considering waste type, truck size, waste sources, total distance, road conditions, workers' wages, and shift times for optimized waste collection from smart dustbins.
3.Communication Technologies
The system employs Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, RFID, LoRa, ZigBee, and GSM for data transmission between the smart dustbin, IoT module, and cloud storage or garbage collector.
4.Web Server
A webserver where all the data received by the bin and collect it into the database.
IMPACT ON ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS
- Waste Reduction and Recycling
- Minimization of Pollution
- Resource Conservation
- Long-term Planning and Sustainability Goals.
- Circular Economy
WINNING POTENTIAL
The winning potential of a basic smart bin prototype in a hackathon can still be strong if it effectively demonstrates core functionalities such as fill level detection with sensors, and real-time alerts when the bin is full. Even a simple, user-friendly design that shows practical applicability and ease of use can stand out. Emphasizing its potential environmental impact, like reducing overflow and improving collection efficiency, alongside a clear, well-presented pitch highlighting the project's feasibility and immediate benefits, can significantly boost its chances of success.
