The governing body of the citizens of Doxxxx, a planet located in the Octo Sector of the galaxy known to humankind as "Milky Way", has issued a memo regarding the human population of Earth approximately 17 light years away. The Octo Sector is home to approximately 57 species of level 8 technological intelligence or above. Humankind has recently achieved level 6 on this scale with the accomplishment of sending an object native to its home world out of its own solar system to interstellar space. Achieving level 6 is an accomplishment that typically draws attention to a particular species, as it is one step closer to coming into contact with the Universal Community. Since the human space probe Voyager reached interstellar space, numerous observers have begun analyzing the human population of Earth and have become increasingly concerned at the violent state of its society. The general consensus is that human technological advancement is outpacing its evolution, which is a sign of very high intelligence, but also a sign that the species could become a serious threat to members of the Universal Community if it mages to leave its solar system. However, the current state of human society is in such shambles that it is not likely to survive long enough to achieve level 8, which is when a native life form is able to travel freely beyond its own solar system. In fact, humankind is on the brink of an extinction event due to the destruction of its living environment, which is already beyond its optimal population size. Additionally, humankind continues to be heavily reliant on energy sources that are devastating to its living environment. At this pace, Earth will eventually become like its sister planet Venus, a planet that is presently unable to host organic life. The governing body of Doxxxx alerted its citizens that the human species has been put on what humans refer to as a "watch list", meaning that any direct contact from Earth via the Universal relay system should be reported. Such contact is unlikely, however, as humankind continues to ignore messages from beyond its atmosphere and believes that contact from what it refers to as "extraterrestrial intelligent life" is likely a hoax, and that those who share such messages with others are existing in an alternate reality. As a long time observer of humankind and one who has tried but mostly failed to get the attention of the human populace, I am saddened by the latest turn of events in human society and am not looking forward to what is about to happen next. Only humankind can save humankind, but unfortunately its own inward obsessions such as money, religion, and political power are preventing it from even thinking about it. The collective human mind is very sick and appears unable to begin the process of healing itself before the coming catastrophe. Unfortunately, this has typically been the case of humankind, which over its history reacts to disaster only after it happens but does little or nothing to prevent it.
