Let’s just consider we are willing to spend a certain amount of ethereum in EOS.
The question arises weather we should buy now, during the first 5 days, or whether we should wait and buy EOS tokens during the year.
In my opinion, none of the above are the correct solution, if you want to invest in EOS, in my opinion you should wait until it is properly released on the market. Because of the way EOS have implemented the token distribution:
- 20 percent of EOS Tokens 200 million will be distributed during the first 5 days of book opening. 70 percent of EOS Tokens
- 700 million will then be split evenly into 350 consecutive 23 hour periods of 2 million EOS tokens each starting July 1, 2017.
- 10 percent of EOS Tokens 100 million will be reserved for block.one and cannot be traded or transferred on the Ethereum network.
By implementing the distribution in this way there is no way of estimating the real value of the EOS tokens you will receive before market release, nor the number of tokens you will receive per venture, making this a very risky investment.
And even if people have estimated an average $5 per coin, it is still a very inaccurate estimate, unless they know something I don't. Furthermore, the amount of times the value of a coin has collapsed shortly after the release of a new cryptocurrency onto the exchange is quite high.
In my opinion, the safest and smartest move is to wait until EOS is available on the exchange to then buy an established amount at a price you are happy with.
In fact I think that there are currently much better and less risky investment opportunities currently on the market, and that there is no need for this EOS craze (for now).
Unfortunately for you, I'm just some crazy guy trading virtual currencies sat behind a computer desk.
