The Directorate General of Immigration at the Ministry of Justice and Human Rights reported that there were seven foreign nationals (WNA) injured due to the earthquake in Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB). The seven victims are currently being treated in hospital (RS).
"Seven foreigners were injured due to the earthquake in Lombok, data obtained by the Mataram Immigration Office based on identification and reports received through the Immigration Office's Mataram Help Desk. WNA victims of the earthquake disaster came from several countries currently in provincial hospitals," said Head of Public Relations of the Directorate General Agung Sampurno Immigration through his written statement on Tuesday (07/08/2018).
He said the joint officers were still trying to evacuate other foreigners in Gili Trawangan, Gili Air and Gili Meno. Evacuation efforts were temporarily suspended on Monday (6/8) night because the waves were quite high.
"It is estimated that the number of foreigners in the three islands is around 2,000 people. What was successfully evacuated until yesterday afternoon on August 6, 2018 at 7:30 pm is 1,870 people," he said.
The Mataram Immigration Office has coordinated with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and foreign representatives who have placed their officers in the disaster area. So that it is hoped that the origin country of the disaster victims can help with the return process.
