The 2019 World Living Cost Survey conducted by the Economist Intelligence Unit reveals a list of the most expensive cities in the world to live in.
Reporting from CNN Travel, three cities at the same time ranked first. The three cities are Paris, Singapore, and Hong Kong.
The city of Paris has become the top 10 most expensive city in the world to live in 2003. Paris rankings increased significantly this year.
Not only Paris, the ranking of Hong Kong City as the most expensive city to live in also increased significantly. Last year Hong Kong was ranked 4th.
This annual survey is conducted by evaluating the prices of 150 items from 133 cities around the world.
Based on this survey, the top 10 most expensive cities to live in are dominated by cities in Asia and Europe. The most expensive cities in the world to live in experience changes every year.
Osaka in Japan for example, the city has risen to sixth place from last year. At present Osaka is in fifth place with Geneva in Switzerland.
New York and Los Angeles are the only cities in North America in the top 10.
While City of Angels (LA) was named the 10th most expensive city in the world, along with Israel's Tel Aviv. According to the survey, US cities are among the most expensive in terms of utilities and household assistance.
The cities of Switzerland, Zurich and Geneva, are fourth and fifth along with Osaka. These cities have the highest costs in terms of household expenses, personal care, recreation, and entertainment.
Copenhagen ranked seventh along with Seoul because the costs of transportation, recreation and personal care were relatively high.
