I know all about excuses. I was fat, obese, and then morbidly obese until the age of 50. I got over my excuses, and BOOM! Now I am thin and have no trouble staying that way almost a decade later.
This last two weeks on STEEM have been my hardest time here. But:
No Excuses! Try harder.
I personally am doing better under the NewSTEEM paradigm in many ways:
- Bots and auto-voters that vote for me are voting with high vp since they are not voting for the others who left.
- Some of those same bots and auto-voters have figured out they need to vote bigger now since they have fewer posts to vote on. So they are voting with higher vote weights and adjusting frequently to find their new sweet spot.
- People that never voted for me before are voting for me because they see my posts since so many others are gone.
- I win contests all day long since no one else is entering.
- I get high bounty payments since no one else is responding.
That's all great. Go me.
I understood (sort of) how things would change about 1.5 months before the fork:
I knew little people would leave under the NewSTEEM paradigm but I did not know how bad it would be.
I knew the bigger accounts would get better rewards, but I had no idea how high they would get.
I knew down-voting would come, but I did not know how arbitrary and unfightable it would be.
NONE OF THAT ABOVE IS ABOUT ME.
I personally am doing better. Better than I thought I would do. So are some other smaller people I know.
But the smallest of of the STEEM accounts are devastated. Anyone here less than one year and under 1000 sp has seen a dramatic drop in rewards.
If they hold on, keep trying, and apply my minnow tips they can succeed too.
Many big people are trying to curate lower down, but they do not know how to do it yet. I know they have good intentions. But curation is a very difficult job. I give this list over and over again when I see the big accounts struggling to find places to vote.
Undervalued posts:
If you do not want to join trails or auto vote, trawl through these efforts.

Promising dApps easy for new STEEMers to start with
- dPoll.io <<< People love to poll on Twitter. They should be doing it on STEEM instead. This dApp has a trail you can join.
- dLike.io <<< People love to share links on fb. They should be doing it on STEEM instead. I am not too sure how to support this place, but they are trying hard and have quality control in place. Their token is doing well.
Support
with your upvotes
Many small accounts get their best upvote from SBI. Please take a look at this post from my other blog to see how you can help this program grow. It is a very simple set up and you will help hundreds of small accounts.

The list above is mine and based on my interests. I do not follow topics such as crypto, games, sports or video. All of them and more have similar programs for curation and similar issues with small blogs now.
If you are big and care about keeping our lower class, please look into any of these places to help. Your two cent vote matters to someone getting ten cents now.
It will come too late for many and they will be gone.
All I can do is help those who remain.
No bunch of excuses is relevant. Not one excuse is helpful. I can only keep going and trying to help, and this is what I will do.
I believe in the changes the fork has brought. We just have to give it time.
But soon I will be working with people under 100 sp for the most part. Please Lord, give me strength.
My post is for the #freewrite daily challenge by . Freewrite is a great way to post on STEEM when you do not think you have the time, or talent, or anything to say. It’s a great way to start regular posting, and I know you can do this too! Here is Marianne’s freewrite prompt post for today. Give it a try and surprise yourself.
